Madewell X Apprvl Naturally Tie Dyed Jacket Collaboration
When Madewell contacted me about working on this project, I was so excited to show a larger audience what natural dyes can do! We tested out a few different patterns of dying with these colors and landed on a kind of upside-down V pattern, overlapping 3 colors to create 6 colors. I used Quebracho Rojo for that dusty pink, Weld for that bright yellow, and indigo for the blue. The overlaps created green, purple and orange, in a beautiful natural and subtle spectrum.
I worked day and night to get these jackets all dyed and pressed for their debut. I didn’t want to mess with the sizing so I let all the jackets air dry, which I recommend for most of all of your clothing to preserve color and sizing, and also elasticity if you have any stretch in your clothes.
The jackets went live in the morning and sold out in 2 hours and i’ve never felt so proud and excited! I really didn’t expect such urgency for something I made. Sometimes owning a small handmade business that is your sole income can really test your patience, sometimes you think that you should just give in to a 9-5 job to have a steady paycheck, and then times like these I wouldn’t change this rollercoaster for anything.
Thank you to any of you who purchased one of these jackets, I would love to see you rocking it!
